Audio and Video

Airplay SDK makes it easy to add audio and video to your apps. All audio and video functionality can be tested in the Airplay Simulator, even under ARM CPU emulation.

24-channel stereo sound

Airplay provides a 24-channel stereo software sound mixer, allowing rich audio irrespective of the device's audio codec support. Provide audio sources in WAV or PCM formats; additional formats (e.g. OggVorbis) can be supported through 3rd party open source decoders. With Airplay's software sound mixer, you can be sure that the audio you lovingly created is delivered intact across all devices!

Audio codecs

Airplay allows you to query the device support for specific audio codecs, and use those codecs if you wish. Within the Airplay Simulator, you can test your app's response to varying audio codec availability.

Video codecs

As with Audio codecs, Airplay also allows you to query the device for specific video codecs, and provides the option for you to use any codecs found. The Airplay Simulator can be used to test your app's response to any Video codecs.

Custom software audio and video codecs

Software codecs can provide highly flexible audio and video playback whilst allowing small-footprint assets. For example, video playback can be mixed with arbitrary 2D and 3D drawing, and potentially multiple video streams can be played simultaneously.

Airplay is currently integrated with custom software codec solutions from CRI Middleware. For more information, see the Airplay Partners Program
